Community members gathered at Memorial Union for magic, dinner, and community support Friday night, as SOS held Hope-A-Palooza, its largest fundraising event of the year.
The Emporia based nonprofit supports families escaping domestic violence through financial support, resources, and access to a secure shelter. Mickey Edwards, SOS Director, said that in addition to fundraising, Hope-A-Palooza serves as a place for SOS supporters to share each other’s company.
“The fundraising is important, but seeing the support of our community and having everybody in this room to show that they support what we do here is so important to us and to our advocates and I hope it trickles down to the people in the community that needs our services,” Edwards said.
