The Army football coaching staff has made its decision on a starting quarterback very late in recent weeks, almost on 24-hour notice ahead of kickoff.
But the tide may have been turned with the strength of performance in Saturday's win over Charlotte by junior quarterback Cale Hellums. He guided Army to a 17-0 halftime lead and played late into the third quarter, departing with a 24-0 lead.
This week Hellums was named QB1 on the depth chart far ahead of Saturday's game at Tulane, a rematch of the 2024 American Conference title game won by Army.
