Jeff Monken said it's a brand new season for Army football, but perhaps for unfortunate reasons.

The Black Knights were two minutes away from pulling off one of the bigger upsets in the American Conference this season but Tulane showed why it remains a title contender with two touchdowns in those closing moments for the 24-17 victory at Yulman Stadium.

"It was a great football game,'' Monken said. "I think both teams played really hard, played the game really physical. In the end, they just made more plays than we did. That's the bottom line. They just made more plays. And I thought our guys played their butts off.''
