CORNWALL - The "No Kings" protest movement came to the usually quiet Town of Cornwall on Oct. 18.
The protest in Cornwall and several others around the region, including the hundreds of people who lined up in Poughkeepsie, were among more than 2,500 similar events scheduled across the United States.
More than 300 protesters carried signs and American flags, and chanted slogans on both sides of Quaker Street in front of the Cornwall Plaza that afternoon.
One protester held her American flag upside down, a traditional symbol of distress.
For two hours, passing motorists honked their horns in support.
The most popular slogan on the protest line was, "Hey hey, ho ho, Donald Trump has got to go."
President Donald Trump also was a frequent target of the protest signs.
