KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Track Club debuted their new 'Finish on the Field' series on Saturday, Oct. 18 with an inaugural 5k run set to finish on the field of Neyland Stadium.
Organizers for the event said that their goal is for the race to finish in a different stadium or field every year. They chose Neyland Stadium as the location for the inaugural race.
However, participants said they had trouble making it into the stadium and across the finish line due to congestion and bottlenecking as the track neared the entrance.
Knoxville Track Club issued an apology on their social media , acknowledging the frustration of the runners and offering those affected a coupon code for free entry to any KTC event, except for their spring marathon.
