THRISSUR: The dream of the great poet who passed away will be fulfilled when Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurates the first zoological park in India, designed in harmony with nature, in Puthur on the 28th. Vyloppilli Sreedhara Menon dreamed of a spacious park when deers died in crowded cages during the centenary celebrations of the Thrissur Zoo (1985). The poet wrote the poem Krishna Mrugangal (Blackbucks) when his heart was broken after seeing the death of the blackbucks and dogs biting them. Former Chief Minister C. Achutha Menon brought it to the attention of the administration. Dr. Sukumar Azhikode also supported him. In 1994, the government proposed to establish a zoo in Puthur.
