Michigan State men's ice hockey took down top-ranked Boston Friday night and the Detroit Red Wings won in an overtime thriller against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Michigan also lit up the scoreboard against Robert Morris.

Senior center Charlie Stramel and freshman winger Eric Nilson scored in the first eight minutes of the game to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead. After Boston got on the board later in the period, freshman winger Cayden Lindstrom scored his first goal as a Spartan to make it 3-1 MSU after the first period.
Sophomore winger Shane Vansaghi added Michigan State’s final goal two minutes into the third period.
