Shillong, Oct 18: The Meghalaya High Court has adjourned the hearing of the proposed relocation of 342 settlers from Them Ïew Mawlong till November 17, 2025.

The court allowed the state government and the Harijan Panchayat Committee to explore settlement through negotiation and mediation.

The division bench of Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Wanlura Diengdoh adjourned the hearing, hoping that the parties would make earnest efforts to settle the disputes amicably.

The parties had initiated the process of negotiation and mediation, and the dispute was likely to be settled.

Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar has earlier informed that the state government has identified few locations for the proposed relocation of the settlers.
