SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- We all know pro athletes spend years chasing their dreams, but what happens when the game ends? One former major leaguer is heading back to school, and he's not alone.

Retired MLB outfielder Chris Singleton traded home runs for homework and rounded the bases toward a college degree. Through a program that began this year, he started taking courses at Syracuse University toward a bachelor's to make up for when he left college early to pursue his career.

"Some guys realize their dreams of getting to the major leagues and other guys don't," he said. "It doesn't mean you can't have a productive and a more successful life off the field."
