WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Thousands gathered in downtown Wichita for the "No Kings" protest on Saturday.

The protest, organized by Defend Democracy ICT, stretched from Naftzger Park to Century II.

Shannon Boone, an organizer with Defend Democracy ICT, said that previous protests had estimated turnouts of between 8,000 and 10,000 people, and Saturday's event appeared to exceed those numbers.

"It's overwhelming. I'm not sure that I have a word to describe what I'm feeling right now," Boone said. "It shows you just how concerned people are about what's going on in our country right now and that they can come out, feel safe to be here despite all the headlines and raise their voices and unite together."
