PHOENIX — Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes confirmed on Saturday that her office will be filing a lawsuit against House Speaker Mike Johnson after his failure to swear in Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva.

12News spoke to Mayes at a "No Kings" rally at the Arizona State Capitol on Oct 18, where she said she planned to file suit against Johnson early next week, on Monday or Tuesday.

It has been several weeks since Grijalva won the election in Arizona's 7th Congressional District, but she still has not been sworn in.

12News spoke to Mayes on Oct. 14, when she called the situation with Grijalva "unacceptable" and said filing a lawsuit was an option being weighed.
