ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Across the country — and right here in Northeast Florida — people gathered Saturday for the second annual “No Kings Day” protest.

The nationwide movement calls for action on issues like the economy, healthcare, and immigration, while urging elected officials to protect democratic values.

In downtown St. Augustine, demonstrators filled the streets near the Castillo de San Marcos, holding signs and chanting as part of the coordinated day of action.

“I’m worried about the future in this country, and I want a future for my grandchildren," says one protester. "I don't want them living in a country that is ruled by a king."

For some, it was their first time attending a protest.
