MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A driver going the wrong way on a one-way street crashed into another car and hit the corner of a building in Downtown Memphis, Memphis Police Department (MPD) said.

Officers responded to a crash at South Front Street at Gayoso Avenue just after 3 a.m.

The driver of a Chevrolet Equinox told police he was heading north on South Front Street when a Chevrolet Avalanche pulled in front of him on Gayoso Avenue.

The Avalanche's driver told police he and his passenger were traveling east on Gayoso Avenue from South Second Street. He said he stopped at the intersection of Gayoso and South Front, but when he proceeded forward, the Equinox hit his car.
