SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – On Saturday, the Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter of The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority hosted a 5K as part of Paint the Town Pink, the campaign raising money for the Telfair Mammography Fund.

This fund helps provide no-cost health care to people fighting breast cancer who are uninsured or underinsured.

Participants dressed in pink did laps around Lake Mayer Community Park in memory of people who passed due to breast cancer and in honor of people still fighting.

The Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter holds this event close to their hearts, as many members are fighting the battle every day.

“We encourage them to, ya know, keep righting and keep being strong, and we’re here for whatever they need,” said Nicole Williams, president of the Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter of The Alpha Kappa Alp
