MASON, Ohio — For seniors Penelope Giammarco and Madi Watkins, one of the biggest accomplishments of their prep careers took place when they led Perrysburg to the Division I state girls tennis team tournament for the first time since 2018.

According to Giammarco, keeping things in perspective helped her team avenge a regular-season loss to Anthony Wayne and led the Yellow Jackets to new heights this fall — with the reward being a trip on Saturday to the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association state team event at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.

“One of the biggest reasons my team accomplished this was because we had the right mindset going into the match against Anthony Wayne,” Giammarco said. “We knew it would be tough and that we would have to fight on every court, but no one gave up and
