Portland Public Schools is floating five scenarios for how it might radically reshape high school enrollment patterns in North and Northeast Portland, and the changes could begin as early as fall 2027.

The changes would affect attendance zones for four high schools: Grant, Jefferson, McDaniel and Roosevelt. Under every scenario, the “ dual enrollment ” boundaries that have been in place since 2011 for students who would otherwise be solely zoned for Jefferson High would be eliminated.

Dual enrollment has allowed families to choose whether to send their children either to Jefferson’s “middle college” program, offering the chance to take courses at a nearby branch of Portland Community College, or to Grant, Roosevelt or McDaniel, depending upon their address.
