Selena Gomez has spoken following Hailey Bieber's response to a recent interview question comparing the two businesswomen's beauty brands.

The "Only Murders In the Building" star seemingly addressed a Wall Street Journal Magazine interview where Bieber loosely answered a question about Gomez's Rare Beauty brand.

In a since-deleted Instagram story, Gomez, 33, wrote: "Just leave the girl alone," according to E! News.

"She can say whatever she wants. Doesn't affect (my) life whatsoever. It's just about relevance not intelligence. Be kind. All brands inspire me. There is room for everyone," Gomez wrote in the post, per the outlet. "And hopefully we can all stop."

In the WSJ interview published Oct. 14, Bieber was asked about potential comparisons between her Rhode skincare brand and Rare Beauty.

"It’s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn’t ask for that," Bieber, 28, said. "When people want to see you a certain way and they’ve made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that."

USA TODAY contacted a rep for Gomez on Saturday, Oct. 18, but has not received a response. A rep for Bieber declined to comment on the matter.

Rumored feud previously fueled by eyebrow post in 2023

Before Hailey Bieber married singer Justin Bieber in 2018, the "Swag" singer was famously in a relationship with Gomez.

While the women have long dispelled rumors of any bad blood between them, unconvinced fans reignited conflict rumors in February 2023 after an infamous eyebrow debacle.

That month, Gomez posted a TikTok video telling fans she "accidentally laminated my brows" too much. Hours later, Bieber's close friend Kylie Jenner posted a selfie on her Instagram story with the caption "this was an accident ?????" with the words placed over her eyebrows. Jenner later posted a screenshot of her on FaceTime with Bieber that prominently featured their eyebrows, leading to internet users assuming the pair were shading Gomez.

A month later, Gomez wrote on her Instagram story that Bieber had reached out to her after rumors developed into an online hate war between fans.

"Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity," Gomez wrote. "This isn't what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I've always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop."
