BROOKLINE – As Rory Funke took the field Saturday, he and his teammates knew that they had an opportunity to check off one of their season goals.

Mission accomplished. The sophomore quarterback was surgical, completing 12-of-13 passes for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also added 11 carries for 116 yards and a third score as Dexter Southfield clinched a NEPSAC Class A Bowl bid with an impressive 23-10 victory over Loomis Chaffee at home.

“It was awesome,” Funke said. “Preseason, we had the same goals as last year. Every game’s a winnable game. Our o-line really played great for me. It’s all about heart. Clinching a bowl is huge.”
