ST. GABRIEL, La. (WAFB) - The Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections confirmed two inmate deaths at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center this week.

Officials identified the inmates as Kevon Matthews, who died on Thursday, Oct. 16, and Michael Johnson, who died on Friday, Oct. 17.

According to deputies, both deaths were described as unexpected, and autopsies have been requested to determine the causes. They also added that they are reviewing all information and details related to the incidents.

No additional details have been released.
