It was not your typical Saturday morning on the square in downtown Newnan.

A smattering of costumed protesters began gathering in front of the courthouse around 9 a.m., holding handmade signs and waving at passersby, many drivers honking in support.

By 10 a.m., the Court Square was crowded with approximately 600 people, all there with one message: No Kings.

There was a brief address by representatives of Coweta County Indivisible, the official organizer of the protest, who opened the event with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Crowds of approximately 20-25 protesters anchored each corner of the Court Square, while a steady stream of demonstrators marched, chanted and blew bubbles around the square.
