YAKIMA, Wash. – A 29-year-old man was arrested after being identified as the driver in a deadly collision involving a car and a person on Friday morning, the Yakima Police Department (YPD) reported.

The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. in the 100 block of South 2nd Street.

YPD officers arrived and found a 28-year-old male victim in a parking lot. Despite lifesaving efforts by officers and medical personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

After identifying the suspect driver, YPD officers arrested him. He was booked into the Yakima County Jail and charged with vehicular homicide.
