CLIFTON PARK — For 358 days each year, Vischer Ferry Nature & Historic Preserve in Clifton Park is open to the public as a placid trail system and birdwatching hotspot. For the other seven days, the town closes the gates of the 740-acre property to accommodate a decades-old tradition: duck hunting.

This year the town designated Oct. 13-19 as the annual duck hunt.
