MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in downtown Montgomery on Saturday as part of the nationwide “No Kings” protests.

Participants dressed in colorful costumes and carrying signs met in front of Riverfront Park on Commerce Street before marching to the Court Square fountain. The group sang songs, chanted, and listened to speakers who urged them to make their voices heard.

Nearly 20 peaceful demonstrations were held across Alabama, with more than 2,500 events planned nationwide. Other “No Kings” rallies in central Alabama took place in Auburn, Dadeville and Selma.
