BEECH GROVE, Texas — Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department crews spent much of Saturday afternoon clearing fallen trees and storm debris after strong winds swept through parts of Jasper County according to chief James Gunter.
At around 3 p.m., BGVFD was dispatched to multiple reports of downed trees across its district. Most of the damage occurred south of U.S. Highway 190, though several calls came in from the north side as well.
Gunter said firefighters worked for several hours alongside residents and crews from Seth Martindale, Jasper County Commissioner for Precinct 1, to cut and remove trees blocking roadways. County Road 149 appeared to be the hardest hit, with trees down across roads and power lines, a broken power pole, and a barn whose roof was lifted off and dropped in nearby w
