IOWA CITY — Trailing 21-10 in the third quarter, Iowa football was facing a challenging climb to beat Penn State. The Hawkeyes had a disastrous end to the first half. A field goal was blocked and returned for a touchdown by Penn State. Then the Nittany Lions scored a touchdown on their first offensive drive of the second half.

That stacked the odds against Iowa .

But from that moment, the Hawkeyes outscored the Nittany Lions 15-3.

That included a two-play, touchdown-scoring, game-winning drive, highlighted by a long Mark Gronowski run.

The Iowa quarterback was not great through the air, but he was tremendous with his legs. Iowa overcame some costly mistakes to take down Penn State 25-24 in a thriller.
