SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - The Kiwanis Club of South Lake Charles and the Sleep in Heavenly Peace Organization partnered up Saturday to make sure youth in the area have a safe place to sleep.

The group gathered today to build beds for kids in need. A $5,000 grant was used to purchase materials, wood, nuts, bolts and bedding.

“I’d heard about this program on a podcast a couple of years ago, thought it was a great idea, realized there was a local chapter in Sulphur, so we reached out to Mr. Warner, and here we are,” said Kiwanis member Garland Prejean.

“We’re in a national organization,” said Paul Warner, Sleep in Heavenly Peace Chapter President. There are about 350 chapters across the U.S. and we all have the same mission, which is to provide beds for kids.”
