Amnesty International on Friday voiced concerns over the possibility of the closure of the Special Criminal Court (SCC) in the Central African Republic due to a lack of funding.
The rights group stated that it would lead to a catastrophic blow to prospects of thousands of victims and survivors in securing justice for serious crimes committed over two decades of conflict in the country. They added that d espite the authorities’ efforts, national courts still lack the resources and capacity to assume the SCC’s work.
