Rohit Sharma was back in action for Team India on Sunday (October 19) after playing his last match on March 9, 2025. But in his first competitive match for the Men in Blue after 224 days, the former India captain failed to do much with the bat. There were high expectations from him in the ongoing first India-Australia ODI at Optus Stadium in Perth, but he could only manage to score 8 runs from 14 balls.

During his stay at the crease, he scored one four off Mitchell Starc’s bowling but was caught by Matt Renshaw in the second slip on the fourth ball of the fourth over of India’s innings bowled by Josh Hazlewood.
