A Republican state senator who has faced stinging criticism from his estranged daughter on TikTok over his politics landed in the pages of the New York Times as the poster child of public officials whose children have taken to social media to express discontent with their parents.

In February, we reported about the beef between Maddie Block and her father, Sen. Jay Block of Rio Rancho.

At the time, Maddie Block had posted a video on TikTok, where she has more than 50,000 followers, blasting her father for proposing an equivalent of DOGE, or the Department of Government Efficiency, for New Mexico state government.

Maddie Block called her father's proposal "just so cringe."
