CORVALLIS, Ore-- Interim Head Coach Robb Akey had one all important message in his introductory press conference early Monday afternoon. Bring back the smiles of joy to Oregon State football and its players when they walk off the field.

On Saturday Akey delivered on his promise. While the first half still left many questions that needed to be answered, the second half performance by the Beavers left no doubts that this team is playing differently.

With a 45-13 win over Lafayette, fueled by a second half shutout on defense and 35 points on offense, Oregon State has picked up its first win of the season.

What led to success on the field that had been eluding the program since Week One of the season. For starters, the Beavers finally got their running game going.
