Mesa wants to make a great first impression on visitors coming to the city and intends to do that with monument signs – starting with one placed at each of the six council districts.
City Council recently gave feedback on a placemaking initiative and agreed for staff to move ahead with developing the plan and an implementation strategy.
“We want to elevate the image of the city and with that support economic development by creating memorable first impressions,” said Planning Director Rachel Phillips at the Oct. 9 study session.
“Through this effort too, we want to establish a clear, cohesive brand and identity for Mesa that can further guide investment from the private developers as well.”
Mesa currently has three entryway monuments – one at Mesa Drive and the US 60, at Southern Avenue
