An elderly man has allegedly been beaten over days in his own home after a visitor was accused of refusing to let him leave.
The alleged attacker, a 28-year-old man, had arranged to stay at the 78-year-old man’s Belconnen home in Canberra earlier this month.
But after some time in the home, he is accused of forcibly confining his host for three days and subjecting him to an onslaught of violence.
“He repeatedly assaulted the older man, including kicking and choking him,” ACT Policing said.
The 78-year-old was allegedly trapped between Wednesday and Friday.
On Friday, the 28-year-old was arrested for unrelated offences and taken to the ACT Watch House.
It was not until 8pm that night that the elderly resident managed to escape his home, seek medical attention for his injuries, and r
