A senior Assam Rifles official said a massive counter insurgency operation is on in the area to track down the fleeing militants.
Troops of Assam Rifles today rescued two civilians after a fierce gunbattle between insurgents and Assam Rifles personnel near the Indo-Myanmar international border in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The two individuals were engaged in a road construction work at Laho village under Dadam police station when a group of 5 to 6 militants kidnapped them last evening.
On receiving the information, Assam Rifles immediately launched a massive search operation in the area so that the militants cannot take the kidnapped duo to Myanmar.
