As the festive season of Diwali and Chhath Puja approaches, railway stations across the country are witnessing massive rush, with passengers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand crowding platforms and trains in hopes of reaching home.

In Surat, thousands of passengers gathered at the Udhna railway station since Saturday evening to board various weekly and special trains scheduled for Sunday. The queue of passengers stretched nearly two kilometers outside the station premises, extending into the Limbayat residential area.

Men, women, children, and elderly passengers were seen waiting for over 12 hours in the open, sitting on the ground amid dust and darkness, hoping to secure a seat in the trains.
