One man is dead from an apparent gunshot wound and homicide Oct. 17 at a Hendersonville home just northeast of downtown.

The Hendersonville Police Department announced Oct. 18 that detectives are seeking information on the homicide that occurred on Woodcock Drive.

Around 8:01 p.m. on Oct. 17, the police department received multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting in front of 724 Woodcock Drive, the news release said.

At the scene, they found Justin Alan Davis, 29, of Hendersonville, with an apparant gunshot wound to the head. Davis was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, according to the release.

Police are working to identify a suspect and a motive. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting.
