Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers has died at the age of 48.

The nu metal group confirmed the his death in an Instagram post on Saturday, October 18.

The band paid tribute to Rivers, describing him as 'pure magic' and 'the pulse beneath every song'.

At this stage, no cause of death has been revealed.

The Take a Look Around band features frontman Fred Durst, drummer John Otto, guitarist Wes Borland and turntablist DJ Lethal.

They shared a photograph of Rivers performing and a post in tribute to him.
