Aldi has recalled one of its steak ranges over possible allergy risks that were not mentioned on the label.

The warning was issued over its Ashfields 30 Day Matured Thin Cut Beef Steaks because it contains milk, due to a packaging mistake.

The Food Standards Agency said: ‘This product contains milk, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.’

Aldi wrote in the recall notice: ‘We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation.’ The supermarket has also issued a notice to customers explaining why the product is being recalled and telling them what to do if they bought it.

Packs weighing 360g with a use-by date of October 26 should be avoided, the FSA said.
