Ensemble Montréal is refusing to say whether it still has confidence in one of its most high-profile candidates after more controversial social media posts surfaced, including one in which he referred to Muslims as “bearded radicals.”
Thierry Daraize, the party’s mayoral candidate in the Sud-Ouest borough, had already faced backlash last week for a separate post made earlier in the year, joking about booking a “2032 vacation to Gaza at an all-inclusive.” He later clarified that the remark was meant as sarcasm about Donald Trump’s proposal to build luxury resorts there, not as an insult to Palestinians.
