INDIANAPOLIS - An investigation is underway after a woman was killed in a hit-and-run on Indy's south side Sunday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just after 4 a.m., officers responded to the 8100 block of Shelby Street.

When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult female. She was pronounced deceased, according to police.

Investigators say one driver stayed at the scene to cooperate with police, but another driver took off, which is why it's being investigated as a hit-and-run.

No additional information was provided. The incident remains under investigation.
