Pakistan India Peoples’ Forum for Peace and Democracy (PIPFPD), a group working for peace between India and Pakistan, Saturday demanded the immediate release of Indian and Pakistani fishermen who have been incarcerated in each other’s jails for crossing maritime boundaries.
The group raised the demand in a statement after holding an online press conference over the issue. It was also attended by family members of Indian fishermen who demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi ensure the immediate release of their family members from Pakistani jails and to ‘return their Diwali’.
The speakers at the conference, as per the press statement, included senior journalist and campaigner on the issue Jatin Desai, PIPFPD Pak chapter convener Mohd Tahseen (Lahore), Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum leader
