The third-quarter earnings season has gotten off to a strong start. Investors will look to this week's batch of companies reporting to keep the momentum going. More than 80 S & P 500 companies are due to release results this week. Among them are Netflix , General Motors and Tesla . Those results will come after banking giants JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs posted strong quarterly figures. Overall, 84% of the S & P 500 stocks members that have so far reported have topped earnings expectations, according to FactSet.
