Shubman Gill made his ODI captaincy debut for Team India on Sunday (October 19) but suffered a defeat by 7 wickets against Australia. In the rain-hit match played at Optus Stadium in Perth, after being invited to bat first, India could only manage to score 136 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 26 overs and then failed to defend the DLS-adjusted target of 131 runs.

India’s defeat on Sunday entered Gill’s name in an unwanted list. He became only the second Indian after Virat Kohli to lose first Test, ODI and T20I as captain.
