BUXTON, N.C. — Another home has collapsed along the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, according to the National Park Service.
Officials said the unoccupied house at 46006 Cottage Avenue in Buxton fell into the ocean around 7:45 p.m. Saturday. It’s the fourth house collapse on the Outer Banks this month. Two others were also in Buxton, on nearby Tower Circle Road, while the remaining one happened in Rodanthe.
Seven homes fell in September, all in Buxton, after heavy offshore impacts from Hurricanes Imelda and Humberto. In total, eight Buxton houses and one in Rodanthe have fallen since early fall, causing millions in property losses and prompting renewed focus on prevention policies.
