GRAND FORKS – Vacuum leaf collection around the city begins on Monday, with initial routes scheduled for the next four weeks.

The first route will include north-south running roads in the neighborhoods east of South Washington Street, from DeMers Avenue to 32nd Avenue.

Leaves must be placed within 3 feet of the curb to be vacuumed but must not be in the street. Leaves must also be at least 3 feet away from obstacles like mailboxes, trees, poles, etc.

Bags of leaves cannot be picked up by the vacuum and must be emptied into the roll-off containers located at any city yard waste site.

Leaf collection crews will make at least two complete passes through the city.
