The Supreme Court has stayed a Bombay High Court order that had restricted KPL from licensing the ‘Kirloskar’ trademarks to group companies in respect of businesses overlapping/similar to KBL’s business till the next hearing on November 4.

The Supreme Court Bench of Justices Manoj Misra and Ujjal Bhuyan on Friday stayed the October 10 ruling which modified the High Court’s July 25 ruling which had added the word “licensing” to the July 25 order and created a new restriction on KPL.

The apex court noted that such a modification “expanded the scope of the restraint” and “ought not to have been passed” while the main appeal was pending.
