KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - One person was shot and killed in the Westport entertainment district overnight, the Kansas City Police Department says.

According to a report, officers were already in the area when they heard gunshots near Westport Road and Mill Street at about 2:50 a.m. on Oct. 19.

When they got to the intersection, they found a man shot in the parking lot of a restaurant on the northwest corner. Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where he later died.

His identity has not yet been released.

Officers believe there was an “interaction” between the victim and one or more suspects in the parking lot before shots were fired.
