Seven IIT Kharagpur students, who faced disciplinary action for engaging in a fight on the campus earlier this month, have recently written to the director of the institute to withdraw the decision to save their careers from being destroyed. The parents of the affected students have also learnt to have appealed for a reconsideration of the decision.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur expelled three students and suspended four students for one semester for engaging in on-campus violence.

IIT Kharagpur officials said that for the first time in the institute’s history, students have been expelled. They informed that the students were intoxicated and used sticks to assault each other during the fight. The officials added that one student had sustained grievous injuries in the
