The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory at 8:47 a.m. on Sunday valid from 2 p.m. until Monday 2 a.m. for Franklin and Clinton counties.

"South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts 45 to 55 mph expected," explains the weather service. "The strongest winds occur between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. this evening from near Malone to Ellenburg Depot to Altona."

"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result," adds the weather service. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects."
