Erie residents are gearing up for the upcoming winter season as meteorologist Tom Atkins prepares the community following last year's lake-effect snowstorm after Thanksgiving.
To help residents better prepare for winter weather, the National Weather Service hosted a Sky Warn course at the Hirt Auditorium in the Blasco Library.
The Sky Warn course, held twice a year, educates attendees on how to observe weather patterns and prepare for seasonal changes.
