As Bonfire Night, Diwali and Halloween approach, fireworks light up the skies across the UK. While the spectacle brings excitement for many, it can trigger stress, panic and anxiety in countless dogs.
Sean McCormack, Head Vet at Tails.com , explains how owners can recognise and manage their pets’ fear of fireworks and help them stay calm and safe.
“Firework fear, or noise phobia, is one of the most common behavioural issues we see in dogs . According to the PDSA Animal Wellbeing Report, 41 percent of dog owners say their dog is afraid of fireworks, that’s the equivalent of around 5.3 million dogs in the UK,” he says.
